G ord Favelle is the Safety Officer for Springfield Fire Rescue Services and works with Napier Emergency Consulting. He previously employed as the Manager/Clinical Director of the CISM Network of the Office of the Fire Commissioner as well as the Director of Mental Health Services, Manitoba Health. In these positions, he had responsibility for a number of areas including Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Community Trauma Postvention (CTP) and psychosocial disaster recovery.
Gord is a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and a founding board member of the Canadian Traumatic Stress Network. He has been involved in numerous debriefings and community trauma postventions since 1989 and has conducted numerous training sessions and workshops on CISM, CTP and psychosocial recovery of disasters in Canada, US, Czech Republic, Albania and Kosovo. Gord has published articles on CISM, CTP and co-authored a manual on setting up psychosocial programmes in refugee camps.
In 1999/2000 Gord also was on an eight-month secondment to the International Children’s Institute where he was responsible for setting up school-based psychosocial programmes for children affected by the war in Kosovo.
